Buttermilk Biscuits the easy way

I have made biscuits for years and years, and many different ways. I’ve used butter instead of Crisco, I have made it the old fashioned way in a large flour bowl, but this way is so much easier and perfect. The bottoms are crunchy and the inside is soft. Everyone loves a homemade biscuit.

Buttermilk Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 2-1/2 cups Self Rising Flour (I use White Lily)
  • 1/2 cup crisco (not liquid)
  • 1 cup buttermilk Might need more

Method

  1. Measure flour into bowl. Add crisco and work through flour with your hand. Add buttermilk until nothing dry is left and is somewhat sticky.
Place dough onto floured surface, do not work too much. Press down until you have about a 1 inch thick surface, dip biscuit cutter into flour and cut out biscuit and place in greased skillet.
Cut all biscuits out and then place into 500 degree oven for about 12 – 15 minutes or until golden brown.
