Gravy

No matter what kind of meat that you are cooking, sausage, bacon, chicken, cube steak, etc., you can make a gravy for the meat or for your sides. Using milk makes a nice white gravy and using water makes a brown gravy.

Ingredients

  • left over grease from cooking meat
  • Flour (as much as there is grease left in pan)
  • Water or milk (depending on what kind of gravy)
  • Salt & pepper

Method

  1. If you are making brown gravy, add the flour to the grease and stir until flour is all absorbed and it turns as brown as you would like. Add the water and continue stirring until the consistency that you want and everything is cooked together. Continue adding water if needed. Salt & Pepper to taste.
For white gravy, use pan drippings along with the same amount of flour to make a roux. Add milk and continue stirring.
You can always use bacon grease or oil to make a gravy.
