Fried Okra is a Southern staple. I happen to have a son-in-law that is from Ohio and he absolutely loves my okra. I usually use fresh okra, or frozen that I have put up, but I have been using the frozen cut up okra that you can buy at the grocery store, and it works out just fine. Southern or not, give this a try.

- If using frozen okra, let thawCut up fresh okra into small pieces. Add to bowlMix 1 egg and about 1/2 cup milk togetherPour over okra and mix to be sure all is coveredAdd about 1 cup cornmeal mix to zip lock bag (or you can just coat okra by dipping okra into mix and shaking excess offPut okra into bag and shake until all is covered. Add more cornmeal if you needHeat enough oil in skillet to cover bottom. By handful, shake off excess mix and drop into pan. Stir and cook until browned. Salt and pepper to taste
